This is a fairly rare version of the HQ170A that includes six and two meter capability, as indicated by the VHF logo near the top of the front panel. This is serial number 20L000006, which may indicate that it was only the sixth unit produced with the VHF capability included. Of the four HQ170s that I have, this is the cleanest and nicest. It looks new inside and the front panel is in Very Good condition. It has not been refurbished in any major way and works very well. I have a clock for it that I plan to install one of these days.
The HQ170A normally covered 160 through 6 meters and this VHF model extends this coverage to include 2 meters. This was accomplished by installing a 2 meter converter inside the radio. It also provides a preamp for 6 meter operation, giving this model more sensitivity on 6 meters than the normal HQ170A offers.
